Marynes Castillo-Espinoza (she/her/Ella) is a first-year doctoral student in the Educational Policy and Leadership program at The Pennsylvania State University. Her research interests focus on the intersections of international women of color navigating graduate school, U.S. higher education policies for student parents, and immigration laws and policies for F1 and F2 visa status.
Marynes’ passion for advocating for international students of color and minoritized groups in the Higher Education System started in her home country, Peru, where she worked for over five years with the U.S. Department of Education as an academic advisor for EducationUSA. Most recently, she served as Assistant Director at the Paul Robeson Cultural Center at Penn State, where she supported staff and students and led initiatives celebrating cultural diversity.
Marynes holds a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) in Race Equity and Law, Immigration and Migration Law, and International Law from Penn State Law and a Master of Education degree (M.Ed.) in Administration from Universidad de Piura in Peru.
