Black Study in Education Working Syllabus

The Black Study in Education Working Syllabus is envisioned as a living, evolving resource rather than a static list of readings. It invites engagement with Black study as method, relation, and refusal—foregrounding study as a collective, world-building practice rooted in Black radical traditions. Alongside core principles such as honoring collective wisdom, resisting fixity, and centering joy and liberation, the syllabus will hold space for diverse forms of knowledge, including texts, podcasts, playlists, zines, artworks, and oral histories. Its initial launch will be co-curated through a convening of scholars, educators, and cultural workers, establishing collective ownership and shaping thematic clusters that reflect the depth and breadth of Black study in education. The following are some of the chosen articles from this syllabus.
